This year, instead of buying the shiny metal engraved ornaments for the kids, we decided to let them pick out their own ornament that they could each hang on the tree. Shocking: they picked out Dora & Thomas....ok, not shocking, but cute to see their excitement at putting them on the tree. In their perspective, the engraved ones are just boring, so we simply wrote their names and the year on the bottom with a sharpie. In the future, they will look back and have their favorite characters to laugh about, rather than a stack of "classy" annual ornaments. Andy & I were talking about how back in the day, we would have collected: for me- Rainbow Bright, Strawberry Shortcake, Holly Hobby, and Andy: The Lone Ranger, GI Joe, or Forrestmen Lego characters. :)I KNOW it's NOT about the tree, the ornaments etc., but since we DO HAVE a tree & ornaments, I thought it would be fun to change it up a bit, and create some memories for the kids.
