Sacrifice, honor, patriotism. Easy to say, and to talk about. I've felt that chill go up my spine when certain patriotic songs are played, or when the red, white, and blue is marched by during a parade, or a great speech is given by a skilled orator. But tomorrow I will feel a little prick from the sting of "Freedom isn't Free". Its one of those moments when even though you believe in a greater good and a cause, everything within you wants it to be that other guy who has to leave, who has to serve in a far away land. Around 10:00am tomorrow(thurs), I will have to say goodbye to a little bundle of joy, who I only just met on Sunday, but would die for tomorrow if I had to. Little Clayton Andrew, so tiny but takes up so much room inside. I will see him again, just days before I leave for Afghanistan. I look forward to that time together, and am thankful to have been able to spend a few days with him and my wife, before I return to Ft. Bragg for training. He will be in my heart, mind and prayers, as well as his precious mommy. So here we go on this journey for God, Family and Country. "The greater the sacrifice, the greater the reward"
-I love you little buddy-

My good friends, Andy and Kara,
He is absolutely gorgeous!! Congratulations!!! I can't wait to see him! I hope you are recovering well, Kara. If you need any advice, you know I'm here. Been there, done that. It's especially hard the first time, but it gets better, I promise;-)
Andy, what a great post. We are so proud of you and what you stand for, and I know it has to be a very trying time for you. You will be in our hearts and our minds as you go off to protect the freedoms that we so often take for granted. Thank you for being the person that you are, and for sacrificing so much.
Know that we are here for whatever Kara needs. (You know we have some anxious babysitters waiting in the wings...LOL). We will do what we can to make life easier for her until you return.
Thank you for the service you have given, and will continue to give.
God Bless You!!
Kara-I will be calling. What is your favorite meal, by the way?? Can't wait to see little Clayton!!
Talk to you real soon! Love ya! Andrea

Can't even tell you (through the tears) ow proud of you I am! Clayton will know what true sacrifice means when he realizes someday why you couldn't be around much of his first year. I love you.
